GPS Integration

Rental Car Manager now has the capability to integrate with our GPS Provider to track your vehicles.

Our GPS Provider can supply you with plug-and-play GPS devices to install into your vehicles.

This page explains set up and usage of your GPS vehicles:

1. Add the GPS Device ID to your vehicle records 

Once you have been set up for GPS Integration, you will need to update the vehicle record within RCM so that we can associate a unique GPS tracker with the applicable vehicle.

Go to Vehicle Maintenance > Vehicle Update > Access Details

After selecting Access Details, you will see the "GPS Integration" button at the bottom of the screen. Click on this:



You will then be brought to the screen as seen below. 


1. To add the GPS device to the vehicle record, you need to enter the Device's Telemax ID here.  The Telemax ID is a numeric identifier (usually 3 or 4 digits) that you can see on your Telemax vehicle records.  Log in to Telemax, under ADMIN -> VEHICLE MANAGEMENT you will see your vehicle list.  You need the number marked "Telemax ID".  It is not the IMEI number. 

2. Leave the wired tracking device field set to "No". (No - indicates plug-in device, Yes - indicates that it was installed by an auto-electrician)

Press the Submit button.


2. Find a vehicle's current location

The GPS Locate option is the under the GPS Integration button. So the process to getting to this option is exactly the same as shown above. This is a link for those vehicles which have a GPS Tracker installed.

Go to Vehicle Maintenance > Vehicle Update > Access Details

After selecting Access Details, you will see the "GPS Locate" button at the bottom of the screen. Click on this:


Clicking this "GPS Locate" link will take you to a map view of the vehicle's current (last recorded) location:


Using this map screen, you can also view Recent History (by time period or date range), and Recent Reservations.


3. View a map of path taken over the period of a particular Reservation

If you would like to see the path taken from a particular reservation, go to the "View Reservation" screen, which is available from many different pages in Rental Car Manager, usually displayed by clicking on the red link of the reservation number.

From the options at the bottom of the page, choose "GPS Vehicle Tracker":
